The Shannon Theatre is a Bluffton legacy, drawing tens of thousands of people from all over NW Ohio to our small town each year. Bluffton has enjoyed having a theatre since the early 1900’s, but it wasn’t until Doc & Lois Rodabaugh took ownership and rebuilt the theatre in the 1970’s that the theatre really began to take off. Doc & Lois’s son, Fred Rodabaugh, developed the family-friendly model that we still employ today – high-quality entertainment at the lowest possible prices available.
The Shannon Theatre
Pete & Kim Suter purchased the theatre from Fred & Pat Rodabaugh in 2007 and enjoy running it with their three children. The goal at the Shannon Theatre is for a family of four to be able to purchase tickets, drinks, and popcorn for $25.00 or less! The Shannon Theatre is open 363 days per year (closed Christmas Eve, Christmas day, and Easter afternoon), with shows every evening typically at 7:00 PM with additional shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 9:30 PM as well as Saturday & Sunday matinees typically at 1:00 & 4:00 PM.
Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn
In 2009, the Suter’s realized that demand for their theatre-style popcorn was so high that they started a gourmet popcorn company and named it after the long time ticket-cashier of the Shannon Theatre – Ms. Shirley Torsell. Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company (www.shirleyspopcorn.com) now has franchised locations in several states, and they ship outstanding gourmet popcorn all over the United States.
Some Words From Pete:
Movies, quite simply, are fantastic. They allow us to laugh, to cry, to escape from the pressures of everyday life.
Movies on the big screen are even better. With 7.1 Dolby surround sound, sitting in the Shannon watching any movie is an experience - the hot & fresh popcorn with loads of butter that you'd never be allowed to use at home is reason enough to walk away from the TV and join us at the Shannon!
